There won’t be much of a break in store for the Philadelphia 76ers this weekend. After facing the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, the Sixers are back on the floor with a road matchup against the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.

Lately, the Sixers’ health situation hasn’t been ideal. Although the injury to the superstar big man Joel Embiid has made all of the headlines lately, the Sixers have rolled without key players up and down the roster.

On Friday, the Sixers’ starting guard Tyrese Maxey joined a list of veterans who got the night off as he deals with an ongoing illness.

Heading into Saturday’s game against the Wizards, the Sixers upgraded Maxey’s playing status to probable after he was questionable before getting ruled out on Friday. Fortunately, Philadelphia will get its first-time All-Star back in the mix, as he’s been cleared for action against Washington.

Since returning from a three-game absence on February 1, Maxey’s role has expanded. In the absence of the injured Embiid, Maxey put together a 51-point career-high game against the Utah Jazz to secure a three-point win, snapping a four-game losing streak. From then on, the young veteran and the Sixers have struggled to deal with life without Embiid.

Following the victory over Utah, the Sixers dropped four straight games. They came up short against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, as they missed Maxey’s production.

With the first-time All-Star back in the mix on Saturday, Maxey will get an opportunity to play alongside the Sixers’ recent additions. On Friday, Philadelphia trotted out Buddy Hield and Cameron Payne after acquiring them prior to the trade deadline.

The Sixers and the Wizards are set to battle it out at 7:00 PM ET.
