Cavaliers Reveal Donovan Mitchell’s Official Playing Status vs. Sixers

In this story:
Lately, the Cleveland Cavaliers have competed without their All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell on the court. Leading up to Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, it was becoming clear that Mitchell could return to action.
When the Cavs released their initial injury report on Thursday evening, Mitchell was upgraded to questionable. As he’s spent the last couple of weeks recovering from a nasal fracture, Mitchell hoped to get back on the court for the Cavaliers’ final push before the playoffs.
Following Cleveland’s March 16 game against the Houston Rockets, Mitchell wrapped up a 25-minute shift. He scored just 13 points as he struggled from the field, knocking down just 31 percent of his shots.
At the time, Mitchell played in just his second game back following a ten-game absence. After the loss against the Houston Rockets, the Cavaliers ruled out Mitchell for multiple weeks.
Leading up to the Cavs’ Friday night matchup, Mitchell missed the previous seven games.
On Friday, the star guard will get the nod to return to action against the Sixers. Friday will mark the 15th time in Mitchell’s career he’ll face the 76ers.
Earlier this season, Mitchell faced the Sixers just once. During the mid-February matchup, the star guard checked in for 37 minutes. During that time, Mitchell scored 36 points on 45 percent shooting from the field. He hit on four of his nine attempts from beyond the arc.
The Cavaliers and the Sixers are set to tip-off at 7:30 PM ET. Cleveland is looking forward to chasing the third-seeded New York Knicks. Meanwhile, the Sixers are attempting to climb out of a two-game losing streak.
