On Saturday night, Joel Embiid put on an offensive clinic against the Charlotte Hornets, scoring 42 points throughout 29 minutes of playtime, en route to a historic 53-point victory.

Following the reigning MVP's impressive performance, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse had more than a few positive things to say, especially regarding his mix of ways to score, which he chalked up to an improved state of confidence.

"I think he's just feeling confident about it, the rhythm he's taking it in, there's not a whole lot of hitting his hands, it's going up..." said Nurse, "He's still mixing it up enough, he's going inside and the guys keep finding him in there, just enough up in transition, a few duck-ins here and there, I want to make sure he keeps mixing those in there, those are super high percentage."

To Nurse's point, apart from his usual dominance in the paint, Embiid scored 22 points off of his jump shot, while only scoring six shots from the free throw line, which is four below his season average.

This season, Embiid has been an efficient player on the offensive end, shooting with 53-percent accuracy, yet this was more than the case on Saturday night, as the Cameroonian superstar shot 74 percent from the field, which Nurse applauded.

"That's a good shooting percentage, I mean he knocked them down, and they're not super easy, he's got to work to get it and work to get to the spot, and all that stuff, they're challenging those," said Nurse, "So again, it just goes to show that when he's locked in and focused he can keep doing things that are, when you're on our side, they're really fun to watch."

His 42-point performance and the nine other consecutive 30-plus-point outings, a personal record for the 31-year-old, can be attributed to a dominative attitude according to Nurse.

"He comes out ready to go," explained Nurse, "He comes out to dominate every night and that's a great mindset."
