Oddsmakers Name Sixers Among Top Landing Spots for Warriors Guard

In this story:
After the Philadelphia 76ers traded James Harden, one of the biggest takeaways was their financial flexibility. At the moment, they'll head into the offseason with a sizable amount of cap space.
There are multiple avenues the Sixers can go with this impending cap space. Daryl Morey has all the resources he needs to completely revamp the cast around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Because they'll have money to spend, oddsmakers recently named the Sixers as the favorites to land Klay Thompson. After spending his entire career with the Golden State Warriors, the four-time champion is set to become a free agent this offseason.

It's no secret that Thompson has had his struggles this season. His 17.1 PPG is his lowest average since his second year in the league. Thompson is also shooting 37.1% from beyond the arc. This would be considered good for most players, but is subpar for a player in the conversation for greatest shooter ever.
Signing Thompson would be a risky move for the Sixers, for multiple reasons. For starters, he is on the wrong side of 30. The five-time All-Star is getting ready to celebrate his 34th birthday. On top of that, Thompson has an injury history that is well documented.
While the miles of a long career might be catching up to him, one could argue Thompson could age gracefully in Philly. Playing alongside a gravitating duo like Embiid and Maxey could generate easy open looks for the veteran shooter.
Overall, the Sixers might be better off targeting players that are a little younger. That said, a case could be made for Thompson at the right price. His championship experience is invaluable for a group looking to take a step towards contention.
