Michael Redd's electrifying 52-point performance against Chicago Bulls from 16 years ago

Before Giannis Antetokounmpo, there was Michael Redd—one of the most prolific scorers to ever wear a Milwaukee Bucks uniform.

On March 4, 2007, Redd erupted for a whopping 52 points against the Chicago Bulls in a thrilling 126–121 loss at Bradley Center. This performance is considered one of the greatest offensive games in franchise history, albeit in a heartbreaking loss.

Scoring duel

Redd was on fire in this game, but never more than in the third quarter, where he exploded for 26 points to help the Bucks go up by as much as 18 points. However, the Bulls had former UConn star Ben Gordon who had an incredible night of his own with 48 points, 20 of which came in the fourth quarter when Chicago mounted their comeback to force overtime and eventually nab the victory.

The loss spoiled Redd’s fantastic performance, where he shot 18-of-32 from the field and made eight three-pointers. He also tipped his hat off to Gordon, who made shots when his team needed him most.

"He is a big-time player, and we just couldn't stop him," Redd said. "He did what great players can do, and that is take over a game."

Superb scoring season

Redd had his best season during the 2006-2007 campaign. He averaged 26.7 points per game and achieved the franchise’s single-game scoring record with 57 points in a 113-111 loss to the Utah Jazz.

Despite his herculean scoring efforts, the Bucks didn’t win many games, finishing the season with a 28-54 record, good for fifth in the Central Division.
