“I’m going with Giannis Antetokounmpo..he’s gonna capture his third MVP”- Kendrick Perkins reveals choice for next season’s NBA race

In this story:
Giannis Antetokounmpo will have a stellar run in the upcoming NBA season and will end up winning his third MVP trophy. This bold prediction was made by former NBA player turned ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins as he disagreed with the choice of a former teammate for next season’s MVP race.
Perkins was reacting to the choice of ex-NBA superstar Kevin Garnett, who picked the Los Angeles Lakers big Anthony Davis to raise The Michael Jordan Trophy next season.
Is a third MVP for the Greek Freak in the bag?
“I’m not mad at him for saying that….and AD should have been on his list to win the MVP in the next couple of years…I don’t have AD winning the MVP this year,” Perkins said during the NBA Today show.
"[Anthony Davis] is an exceptional top 5 talent in the league... But if you asking me about my MVP pick... I'm going with Giannis Antetokounmpo... That's who I got coming into the season."

Perkins agreed that the one-time NBA champion and eight-time All-Star Davis is an exceptional talent, but for next season’s MVP battle, the former Boston Celtics center is rooting for the Milwaukee Bucks main man.
“AD is an exceptional top 5 talent in the league. But if you’re asking me, my MVP pick… I’m going with Giannis Antetokounmpo..he’s gonna capture his third MVP,” Perkins said.
Perkins made it clear that he’s fine with Garnett praising Davis, but when it comes to next season’s MVP race, it’s a totally different story.
Milwaukee’s revenge season
“I’m not mad at the big fella’s pick, calling AD out…holding him to a high standard. I’m not just not rolling with it, not this season,” Perkins added.
Antetokounmpo won the MVP award in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He was one of the frontrunners in the past season’s MVP race but eventually lost the accolade to Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia Sixers.
Giannis has vowed that the coming NBA season will be a “revenge season” for him and the Bucks after they were eliminated in the very first round, turning what looked like a promising season into a huge disappointment.
Milwaukee ended with the best record the past season but got ambushed by the Miami Heat in their first-round playoff in what was the biggest upset in recent NBA history.
