The Chicago Bulls are in limbo at the moment. With a long off-season ahead of them after falling short of the NBA Playoffs this year, the Bulls’ brass are keeping their cards close to their chest, carefully plotting out their next move. An up-and-coming player they could possibly make a move on is explosive wingman Jalen Green. After coming off a sophomore season where he increased his counting stats but not his efficiency, the Filipino-American could be the kind of prospect a team like the Bulls could use, especially if they pivot toward a youth movement.

Bright future

The Rockets already have a formidable squad of young talented guys like Kevin Porter Jr. Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason. What they don’t have is a bona fide star who can command the attention of opposing defenses. And with Houston in play to potentially win the top pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, which they could use to snag consensus top player, Victor Wembanyama, the Rockets could easily vault into playoff contention as early as next season.

Additionally, the Rockets expressed their desire for a reunion with their former star, James Harden, who has a player option for the 2023-2024 season. However, nothing is certain in the NBA, and the Rockets would do well to have contingency plans in place. Could they look in the Bulls’ direction and like what they see? Most importantly, would they consider trading Green for one of the Bulls’ core players?

Green for a Bull?

The Bulls have several assets that other teams might consider. This includes high-scoring wingman Zach LaVine and veteran DeMar DeRozan. In LaVine, the Rockets would get a dynamic wing that can score from anywhere on the court. DeRozan, on the other hand, possesses crunchtime chops and is a dangerous facilitator when given the opportunity. Both players could bring their own unique flair to Houston, forming a potent mix of youth and experience that could make them major contenders.

Moreover, the Bulls’ roster also boasts some intriguing prospects like Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, and Patrick Williams, who they could add to any trade package. These players have plenty of upsides and could be the building blocks for sustained success in Houston.
