Plenty of NBA players have been compared to the “Greatest of All Time,” Michael Jordan, but none has ever stacked up the greatness of the six-time NBA champion. However, Jordan sees potential in Minnesota Timberwolves high-flying superstar Anthony Edwards.

MJ agreed

Edwards, the first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, has long been compared to Jordan in terms of his raw, unbridled athleticism. Like Jordan, Edwards's legs have springs that allow him to soar above the rim and easily finish acrobatic dunks. However, in a move that surprised many, His Airness relayed to longtime NBA insider Chris Broussard that he agrees with the comparisons.

“There's two comparisons to Michael Jordan. There's one in he could one day be as good as Michael Jordan or better. That's where LeBron is always got compared to Jordan, not because stylistically they played like that,” Broussard said on First Things First.

“Then there's the other one: of the game is similar and as great as Anthony Edwards is and I think he can be the best American player, maybe the face of the league, at least American players, he's not going to ever be in the goat conversation. As great as he will be, he's not gonna be in a GOAT conversation but stylistically? Well, I reached out to the GOAT today. Michael Jordan said there are similarities in their games, he agreed!”

More than the athletic ability

Broussard continued by saying that apart from the nuclear athleticism that Edwards and Jordan share, the two players have a burning desire to just go hoop.

“And what I like, in addition to the athleticism and the explosive dunks, all right? His desire to play is like MJ's,” Broussard stated.

“In the past, I talked to Jordan about the concept of shortening the season. It sickened him. He couldn't understand why in the world wouldn't players want 82 games. Anthony Edwards is like, ‘I don't wanna load manage; I wanna play!'”
