Alex Caruso has missed the past two games for the Chicago Bulls due to a left ankle sprain. However, there is a possibility that the fan-favorite will be back on the court at some point this week.

According to head coach Billy Donovan before their 114-106 loss against the Denver Nuggets, Caruso is feeling much better now and is on the course of finding himself back in the lineup.

“I think he has some discomfort with his cutting,” Donovan said. “It’s certainly better as days have gone by. Talking to the medical staff, they didn’t think it was going to stretch into weeks.”

Nearly 100% ready

Carushow has been absent in their previous games against Denver and the Milwaukee Bucks after sustaining the ankle injury from last week against the San Antonio Spurs. This was his newest injury upon enduring toe strain issues throughout November.

With Alex moving well now and appearing much more coordinated in his movement, Donovan insisted that the 29-year-old would truly return soon.

“The fact that he’s even going on the court to try to get himself ready to play I think would indicate that he’s pretty close to being back,” Donovan said. “It’s just how much he feels like he can do.”

Significance of Caruso’s soon return this week

With AC about to return, Chicago will get a boost on both sides of the court. His defense and improved offense will always remain pivotal for the team this year.

The Bulls have lost four of their last games with Caruso out of the active roster. The club also succumbed to back-to-back losses against Denver and Milwaukee after enjoying a four-game win streak.

This week, they’ll take the road to face the Heat twice. As such, Carushow’s energy and hustle would be impactful in holding down a Miami team that has Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro in their explosive perimeter.
