Coby White feels he should be a starting point guard in the NBA

In this story:
It has taken some time, but 23-year-old guard Coby White has finally developed a skillset that a starting point guard in the NBA needs. Although the Chicago Bulls failed to make the NBA Playoffs this season, team officials and teammates alike were impressed by White's growth. The numbers may not jump off the page, as he played fewer minutes than last season, but his playmaking and shooting abilities have been on another level.
Could Coby become the Bulls' starting point guard?
White averaged a shade under ten points, along with 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this season, coming off the bench in 72 of the 74 games he played during just 23 minutes per contest.
The point guard position is a bit of a dilemma for the Bulls. With Lonzo Ball expected to miss a huge chunk—if not all—of next season, and Pat Beverley being a free agent, Chicago does not have many options on the table.
White may be the solution, as long as him and the Bulls agree on a new contract.
"My confidence is higher than it's ever been and my belief in myself is higher than it's ever been just by the way this season went. I'm looking forward to another big summer for me and a summer filled with work to take advantage of all the opportunities that come my way," said the former UNC Tar Heel.
Modern-day guard
White is a modern-day guard—one who can handle the rock, shoot and create. His ability to make plays off the dribble while also serving as a spot-up shooter makes him an invaluable asset on the court. He proved this season that he could shoulder even bigger responsibilities, playing excellent defense whenever it was necessary and hitting clutch shots when given the opportunity.
"I'm a guard in today's game. There's not many traditional point guards anymore. I can play on the ball. I can play off the ball. I can do a lot of different things and I take pride in being versatile. I don't really look at myself as a traditional point guard. I feel like I can be the starting point guard. That's still my goal. That hasn't changed," Coby concluded.

Chicago Bulls fan ever since “the shrug.” Meeting Jud Buechler at the Berto Center before the Last Dance season is one of my GOAT NBA moments, followed by watching two games at the United Center during that campaign. Virginia Military Institute graduate and a recovering sneakerhead.
