Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is well aware of the opportunity that is before him. With Lonzo Ball having no timetable for a return and Patrick Beverley angling for another payday with some other team, the former North Carolina standout could be the Bulls' starting point guard once the new season comes around this October.

According to renowned basketball trainer Johnny Stephene, the 6-foot-5 White is putting in a lot of work this offseason to improve as much as possible. Stephene even predicts an All-Star season is coming up for White and believes the point guard will be one of the best players in the league in the 2023-2024 season.

The door is open

Lonzo Ball underwent his third knee surgery in April, and so far, it is not clear when or if the dynamic guard should return due to persistent knee trouble. With sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu being a restricted free agent, White appears to be a strong candidate for taking on the lion's share of point guard duties this upcoming season.

He'll have his work cut out for him, as it looks like he'll need to shoulder much of the load when it comes to Chicago's offense—a task that will require both skill and determination. But if White can make the most of his opportunities, then there's no doubt that he has the talent to help lead this team back to the playoffs.

Consistency

White has shown he's capable of putting up significant numbers in his first three years. However, he finally turned a corner this season, displaying poise, better defense, smarter decision-making, and improved shooting. If he can consistently bring that level of play, there's no reason he can't be the primary point guard for the Bulls.
