Lonzo Ball gets some shots up at the Chicago Bulls' practice session

Although Lonzo Ball has already been ruled out for the 2023-2024 season, he offered the Chicago Bulls hope as he joined the team’s practice on Monday, getting some spot-up jumpers up at the team’s training facility.

Getting some work in

The former UCLA star is rarely seen in the Windy City as he has made Los Angeles the hub for his recovery and rehabilitation from a third knee surgery performed in March 2023. However, on Monday, Ball hoisted one shot after another, with team staff rebounding and passing for him.

In addition, the Bulls’ director of player development, Peter Patton, was also with Ball, offering the guard advice on his shooting motions, according to the Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe.

Long road ahead

More than two years have passed since Ball last played in the NBA. Since then, the former second-overall pick has gone through three knee surgeries, the last one being a cartilage transplant procedure that many hope would be the answer to his injury woes. Although the terrific two-way guard has yet to run or sprint, he has been cleared to do spot-up shooting, and Ball seems to be making the most out of that.

During Monday's workout, Ball showcased his smooth shooting stroke, hitting shot after shot from all over the court. He also displayed his improved form and mechanics, potentially leading to a more consistent shot in the future. This is an encouraging sign for Bulls fans waiting anxiously for Ball's return to Chicago.
