The Chicago Bulls got back on the winning track on Monday as they defeated the Atlanta Hawks 136-126. Here are two takeaways from the impressive victory.

Jevon Carter returns to the rotation

Alex Caruso’s absence from the game meant there were going to be extra minutes that had to be filled. That opportunity went to Jevon Carter, who had been out of the rotation for a while. Carter took full advantage as he finished with 11 points and two assists in 25 minutes of action—the most he’s had as a Bull.

Carter’s energy and defensive intensity were crucial in this game, as he relentlessly hounded Hawks star Trae Young, picking him up from one end to the other. On one play, he kept in step with Young, pestering and forcing him into committing an eight-second violation. After the game, Donovan praised the Illinois native for staying ready for his opportunity in a season that hasn’t offered him much.

"He's always been professional," Donovan said.

"He keeps himself ready to play. I give him a ton of credit. I made a comment about him in the locker room after the game because I think it's great for some younger players to understand (sacrifice) sometimes."

Dalen Terry continues to improve

Another player who benefited from Caruso’s absence was Dalen Terry. The sophomore guard had seven points, four boards, an assist, and a steal in 21 minutes of playing time. He was pivotal in the Bulls’ third-quarter run, scoring a triple and a gorgeous reverse layup that helped put his team in front, 97-92, heading to the fourth.
