Former Chicago Bulls guard Rajon Rondo was arrested over the weekend in Indiana due to misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana, multiple reports confirmed on Monday.

Misdemeanor charges vs. Rondo

According to WDRB’s Jason Riley, Rajon was stopped for a traffic violation in Jackson County, Indiana, as a trooper smelled marijuana around the former NBA star. It prompted a search which eventually found a gun, a "personal use" amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia stored in his car.

Rondo is prohibited from having a firearm in his possession as 2022 emergency protective orders were filed against him by a woman who alleged him for threatening her with a gun at her home in Kentucky. As a result, he was immediately brought by the authorities to the Jackson County Jail, where he eventually posted a bond.

Per Riley, there hasn't been any attorney available yet for Rondo to reach out for a comment. It is yet to be seen when the 37-year-old will undergo arraignment in his case.

Rondo as a Bull

Rajon, who played for 16 seasons across nine different teams in the NBA, had a one-year stop in the Chicago Bulls last 2016-17 season.

Rajon inked a two-year deal worth $28 million for the Bulls. He proceeded to average 7.8 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.1 boards in 69 games during the regular season – helping the team qualify for the postseason as the Eastern Conference's eight-seed.

He notably powered the Bulls’ early 2-0 series lead over the Boston Celtics in their first-round encounter. A thumb injury suddenly sidelined him, and Chicago proceeded to lose the series. After the season, the Bulls decided to release Rondo.
