The sense of style for NBA players has come a long way over the years. From the baggy shorts and long-sleeved t-shirts of the 90s to the present day's stylish outfits, players have embraced fashion as a way to express themselves and stand out from their peers. Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is no exception, recently revealing his take on what being fashionable means to him in an interview with People.

Look good, feel good

You have to possess an incredible amount of confidence to be successful in the NBA. And it doesn't start the moment you step on the floor; instead, it begins when you're dressing for the arrival to the game. Zach LaVine believes that looking good can give you an edge over your opponents and help you get motivated before a game.

"For me especially, fashion and basketball go hand in hand. I think the old saying is, 'If you look good, you play good,' and sometimes you just really need that," LaVine shared.

Finding ways to brighten the day up

LaVine also explained that being in the Windy City plays a huge part in his style. For the uninitiated, the weather in Chicago can be unpredictable — whether it's dark and gloomy or sunny and warm.

"The season's very long. We live in Chicago, and there are some cold, gloomy days. So if you brighten yourself up and make yourself feel good, you can transfer that confidence onto the basketball court," said LaVine.

The UCLA product is confident enough to try anything once. However, he drew the line on those big, red boots by MSCHF.

"I won't wear those big red boots, I know that," he adamantly claimed.

"And it's not just what you're wearing – I feel like with the right mentality, you're going to come across better and be ready for anything," Zach added.
