Cavaliers Finish Regular Season With Winning Road Record

The Cleveland Cavaliers improved their road record from last season.

Sunday marked the end of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ five-game West Coast road trip and was also Cleveland’s last road trip of the regular season. While these last five games have not quite gone the team’s way, the Cavs should be proud of how they performed away from their home court this season.

The Cavaliers ended the 2023-24 season with a record of 22-19 away from Rocket Mortage FieldHouse securing a winning road record. That tops their record from last season where they were just 20-21 away from their home floor. Typically, it’s more difficult to play away from home for a variety of reasons, but the Cavs proved this isn’t always the case.

Cleveland finished with a 112.0 offensive rating and a 111.1 defensive rating on the road. They also shot 47.2 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from behind the arc in those games. Overall, this is a very impressive showing even with their last three games being a disaster on both sides of the floor.

What does all of this mean for the Cavs? Well, theoretically, Cleveland will have extra experience playing and succeeding in hostile environments when it comes to the playoffs. This was something that J.B. Bickerstaff and the rest of the team said they needed after last year’s first-round exit.

However, the last road game of the season did not go the way the Cavaliers wanted it to. They climbed out to a 26-point lead but allowed the Los Angeles Clippers to come back in the second half to win the game.

The Cavs proved earlier in the season that they can be a good team on the road. Hopefully, they can refind some of this success once the postseason starts in just a few weeks.
