Jarrett Allen Shines For The Cavs In Return To The Floor

Jarrett Allen returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers lineup after eye injury.

Jarrett Allen made his long-awaited return to the Cleveland Cavaliers as they took on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. He missed the four previous games due to an eye injury which looked a lot worse than it turned out to be.

Allen came up big in the Cavs' win over the Nets finishing the game with 12 points and was a huge presence in the paint. He grabbed 14 total rebounds, six of them coming on the defensive end and eight on the offensive end. This helped Cleveland with second-chance opportunities that were pivotal in the game.

Fans definitely held their breath seeing Allen back on the floor. As great as it was to see the big man return, he did not play with any sort of goggles or mask to protect himself from another incidental poke in the eye. This was a risk because the injury has reportedly not fullied healed just yet.

Evan Mobley did a fantastic job filling in for Allen while he was out, but JA's impact against the Nets showed exactly what they were missing without him there. Against his old team, the center was huge on the defensive end blocking two shots and giving Brooklyn's guards a tough time driving to the hoop.

Allen missed the team's final 18 games in 2022 and was the first of two play-in games. This is what immediately came to the minds of a lot of Cavs fans when he went down at the beginning of the month as fears of history repeating itself emerged.

Cleveland avoided a massive setback with Allen's injury and he's ready to go for their final eight games as the team gets ready for the playoffs.
