Three Reasons Why The Cavs Topped The Washington Wizards

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Washington Wizards 117-94.

The Cleveland Cavaliers responded well to an aggravating loss against the 76ers on Wednesday night. The Cavs went up against an inferior Washington Wizards team and blew them out while never spending a second in the game from behind.

Cleveland walked away with a 117-94 win and these are some of the reasons they were able to pull it off:

Points In The Paint

It was pretty clear that the three-pointers weren't falling for the Cavs on Friday night. They shot just 21 percent from behind the arc in one of the worst long-range shooting displays of the season. But Cleveland was still able to find a way to score.

The Cavs absolutely dominated the paint against the Wizards. They outscored Washington 78-48 under the rim which ultimately made up for the miserable shooting effort.

Cleveland being able to score that many points in the paint, even without their starting center Jarrett Allen, highlights just how versatile this team can be.

Limited Turnovers

The Cavs average around 18 turnovers a night which is on par with the league average. However, they did a great job taking care of the ball against the Wizards.

Cleveland only gave the ball away 11 times against the which resulted in just eight points for the Wizards off turnovers. Taking care of the basketball is an easy way to put yourself in a great position to win the game!

The Big 3 Scoring

Cleveland's scoring was led by Darius Garland who finished the night with 24 points. But Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell were right behind him with 20 points of their own.

This spread-out scoring attack from Cleveland's "Big 3" in this game was clearly just too much for the Wizards to handle, resulting in the blowout. This is now the 17th time this season that the Cavs have had three players score 20 points or more.
