Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell Contributes In 2024 East All-Stars’ Victory

The Cleveland guard recorded nine points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the East All-Stars' 211-186 win on Sunday night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers participated in four events during 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend.

Two-Way rookie Emoni Bates represented the Wine and Gold in both the 2024 NBA Panini Rising Stars and the 2024 NBA G League Up Next Game.

Between these two tournaments, Donovan Mitchell took part in the 2024 NBA Starry Three-Point Contest.

Finally, the 27-year-old took part in the main event of the weekend, helping guide the East All-Stars to a record-breaking 211-186 victory in the 73rd NBA All-Star Game. He recorded nine points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the Eastern Conference’s first All-Star Game win since 2014.

Mitchell shot 3-for-9 (33.3%) from the field, with all of his field-goal attempts coming from three-point range.

He initially checked into the game during the first quarter, when he converted one of his three attempts from beyond the arc and tallied two rebounds, one assist, and a steal. Mitchell then drained his only three-point attempt and grabbed two more rebounds in the following period.

The five-time reigning All-Star was one of just three players to not score in the third quarter, as he missed both of his attempts from deep. Mitchell did, however, record a rebound and an assist. He then made one of his three three-point attempts and recorded another pair of rebounds in the final period.

Overall, Mitchell’s +15 plus/minus was the third-highest of any player. His playing time of 16:05 was the second-smallest amount for the East All-Stars, greater than only the 14:28 played by Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.

Up next, Mitchell is set to suit back up for the Cavaliers on Thursday, February 22, when they will host the Orlando Magic at 7 p.m.
