The Cleveland Cavaliers aimed to split their regular-season series against the Miami Heat with a victory on Sunday night.

However, the Wine and Gold suffered a 37-point defeat, falling by a score of 121-84. This was Cleveland’s third consecutive loss, tying the team’s longest losing streak of the season.

The Cavaliers struggled offensively, shooting just 30-for-72 (41.7%) from the field, 9-for-29 (31.0%) from three-point range, and tying a season-low with four offensive rebounds.

Additionally, the Wine and Gold’s 84 points were their fewest in a game this season. They were also Cleveland’s fewest in a regular-season or postseason contest since April 21, 2023, when the team scored 79 points in Game 3 of its Eastern Conference First Round playoff series against the New York Knicks.

On Sunday night, the Cavaliers had just one player score in double-figures. After missing the Wine and Gold’s previous nine games, Evan Mobley tallied a team-high 15 points. He shot an efficient 4-for-6 (66.7%) from the field, a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and 5-for-6 (83.3%) from the free-throw line.

Fellow Cleveland starters Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, Isaac Okoro, and Jarrett Allen combined to score just 23 points, shooting 9-for-26 (34.6%) from the field and 2-for-10 (20%) from three-point range.

One offensive bright spot for the Cavaliers, however, was rookie forward Emoni Bates. The 20-year-old tied his career-high of nine points, shooting 3-for-4 (75%) from deep in just 10 minutes of action off the bench.

Up next, the Wine and Gold will play the first of two consecutive games against the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
