Pacers decline Stephenson's team option

The Indiana Pacers are declining Lance Stephenson's team option for next season, making him an unrestricted free agent, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
Stephenson was scheduled to make $4.3 million in 2018-19.
The 27-year-old played in all 82 games and averaged 9.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists, shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from three.
"This was a very difficult decision," Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard said. "But as free agency begins on July 1, we want to have flexibility so that we can prepare for all of our available options."
In the seven-games series versus the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first-round of the playoffs, Stephenson posted 10.4 points.
In his eight-year career, Stephenson holds averages of 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 440 games.
