Devin Booker's Candid Statement on Suns Win vs Clippers

Devin Booker knew the Suns needed to win.

The Phoenix Suns needed to beat the LA Clippers on Wednesday night to keep their dream of staying out of the play-in tournament alive. It wasn't pretty, but the Suns managed to accomplish their job.

After losing an embarrassing game on Tuesday night against the Clippers, the Suns had a rare chance to redeem themselves against a very shorthanded LA squad. As important as Wednesday's game was, Devin Booker knows all of Phoenix's games currently are.

"I mean that’s all games," Booker said. "We’ve been preaching with the play-in that pretty much all of these games are playoff games. It’s going to be high-intensity and you know if you lose it’s going to be the worst loss ever. If you win then it’s a big one.”

For nearly the entire game, the LA Clippers led the Phoenix Suns without Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Ivica Zubac, and Norman Powell. It seemed like there was a slight chance that LA was going to come out with a shocking win. However, the Clippers couldn't score in the final minutes of the fourth quarter as the Suns pulled away. Devin Booker credited that to Phoenix's defense.

“Talking on defense," Booker said. "Shrinking the floor. Bringing the low man over. Making sure they have to finish over a contest. Even if they make those layups, it’s tough if you have length at the rim. Just making sure someone is over there to meet them."

The LA Clippers may have lost on Wednesday night, but no one the team sould be sad about the effort. No one expected a shorthanded Clippers team led by Bones Hyland to push a healthy Phoenix Suns team to their limit, but they did.
