There has been a lot of discussion in the NBA media lately about which players deserve statues once their careers end. During a recent appearance on the Nightcap Show, former NBA star and Memphis Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas said LeBron James does not deserve a statue from the Los Angeles Lakers.

"If his career stop right now, hell nah," Arenas said. "He don’t have enough accolades in the Laker uniform."

Arenas said James needs at least one more title, adding, "The closest statue we have with that was with [Shaquille O’Neal]. Shaq, eight years, was it four rings? No, three rings. It’s gonna be hard to put him in there with six years, 8,000 points, one championship, six All-Stars. That’s not good enough for a statue in Los Angeles. They could just put his shoes. They can start with the shoes."

While James will certainly receive one from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Arenas does not see him getting one from the Lakers unless he stacks more accolades and championships. While James is of course not done playing, the Lakers do not look like a team that is a true championship contender.

While the Lakers could turn things around and go on a run similar to last season's trip to the Western Conference Finals, there are several other teams in the Western Conference that are ahead of them right now.
