Prior to their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies made the following announcement via their public relations account on X (formerly known as Twitter):

"The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team signed guard DeJon Jarreau to a 10-day contract as a Call-Up from the NBA G League's Memphis Hustle. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed."

On Jarreau's G-League time, the Grizzlies added the following:

"Jarreau (6-5, 185) has appeared in 24 games (18 starts) for the Hustle during the NBA G League regular season and has averaged 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 29.7 minutes since he was acquired from the Capital City Go-Go via trade on Dec. 26. He has posted 11 double-doubles (tied for seventh in the NBA G League) and a franchise-record four triple-doubles (second) for the Hustle during the regular season."

The Grizzlies also added background information on Jarreau from his time before the league, writing the following:

"The 26-year-old New Orleans native went unselected in the 2021 NBA Draft following his senior year at Houston, where he was named the 2020-21 AAC Defensive Player of the Year. He made one NBA appearance for the Indiana Pacers during the 2021-22 season and has played a total of 65 NBA G League showcase and regular season games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Texas Legends, Go-Go and Hustle."

Memphis has been hit hard with injuries this season, but one of the silver linings has been their ability to get a look at players who would have otherwise not had a spot. This has resulted in the emergence of some players who project to help the Grizzlies beyond this season, and Jarreau will try to be the next to break into that category.
