NBA Analyst Proposes Massive Trade Between Grizzlies and Raptors

Could the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors pull off this trade?

The Memphis Grizzlies are at least one piece away from being taken seriously as championship contenders. While Memphis was good enough in the regular season to land the Western Conference's second seed, the Los Angeles Lakers exposed several of their flaws in the postseason, which illuminated a need for serious improvement.

One of the areas Memphis needs to upgrade is their starting small forward spot. Dillon Brooks is widely expected to not re-sign in Memphis, as his inability to shoot was a big reason why the Grizzlies faltered in round one. An upgrade at that spot would give the Grizzlies a much stronger starting unit, and one NBA analyst proposed a trade with the Toronto Raptors that lands O.G. Anunoby in Memphis.

In a recent article, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed this O.G. Anunoby to the Memphis Grizzlies deal, with Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams, David Roddy, a 2024 first-round pick (top-four protected, via GSW), and 2027 first-round pick going back to Toronto.

Buckley's justification for Memphis was straight forward, as they get a win-now piece that also sets them up for sustained success. As for Toronto, Buckley sees this as an opportunity to begin a strong rebuild effort. Anunoby would be a great get for Memphis, and could be on the trading block this summer if the Raptors do finally decide to pivot towards a rebuild.
