Speaking before the NBA Draft Lottery, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke on Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant and his latest gun video incident:

"Before we got to a subsequent potential to have done something wrong, we were very focused on the misconduct that was in front of us at the time," Silver said of his meeting with Morant that followed the star point guard's first gun video incident. "Frankly, most of our conversation was about how incredibly serious the first incident was, of waving a firearm on social media. And again, the consequences there - an eight-game suspension was pretty serious, and something that he, at least to me, seemed to take incredibly seriously at that time. And we spoke for a long time about not just the consequences that it could have on his career, but the safety issues around it... And also the acknowledgment that he's a star. He has an incredibly huge following... I at least was left with a sense that he was taking this incredibly seriously. So honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend, that video."

Silver confirmed that the NBA is still investigating the situation, but added that he is assuming the worst as it pertains to Morant's actions in that video. Silver was clearly disappointed that Morant did this again after seemingly understanding the seriousness of his actions the first time.
