While it is not an official league suspension that has kept Ja Morant off the court since flashing a gun during an Instagram live video, the Memphis Grizzlies have taken the responsibility upon themselves to keep their star point guard away from the team for a period of time.

With some reports indicating that Morant may not return this season, there was building pessimism in some circles that the star point guard would indeed be out for the remainder of the season. In a new report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it was announced that Morant met with league commissioner Adam Silver, and is moving towards a return to the Memphis Grizzlies. Wojnarowski added that Morant has left the counseling program in Florida that he had joined.

Wojnarowski added that Morant still must wait for the NBA to finish their probe, but it does seem as if he will be back at some point this season, which is great news for the Grizzlies. Memphis has done a good job picking up wins in his absence, winning their last three games without Morant.

While Memphis has a confident group that has done well to tread water in the absence of their star point guard, it is clear that this team cannot achieve their ultimate goal of winning a championship without Morant in the mix. This latest report seems to indicate that he will indeed be back, which should mean that Memphis will have their point guard available for the playoffs.
