Former Grizzlies Player Gets Honest About Ja Morant and Derrick Rose

Having spent a short amount of time with the Memphis Grizzlies, two-time NBA champion Danny Green recently spoke about his former team during an episode of No Chill with Gilbert Arenas. Asked about the new leadership dynamic with Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose in the mix, Green said both players should be good for star point guard Ja Morant.

"I'm interested to see how Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose is gonna be for them," Green said of the Grizzlies. "... I think Derrick is the veteran you need. He's smart, but he's more passive, a little bit quieter. I see him as like a [Tim Duncan]... People think Timmy was quiet, but he actually talked and spoke, and I think Derrick is one of those guys."

Green also spoke on the leadership dynamic between Rose and Morant, and how the former league MVP will be aided by already having the respect of his new Grizzlies teammates.

"It's hard to have somebody come in and say, 'Your project is to work on this guy.' As a vet, it's harder for some vets if they don't respect you, like you have to have that player's respect first," Green explained. "... I think Derrick is going to be one those guys that they hold in high regard and will listen to, and I think he'll have an impact on Ja for sure."
