Warriors and Lakers Expected to Show Interest in Former Grizzlies Star

In this story:
It was recently announced that former Memphis Grizzlies star Rudy Gay had been waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder. While there is the possibility that Gay could be done playing the NBA, a recent report from HoopsHype revealed that the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls, and New Orleans Pelicans are expected to have interest in him.
About to turn 37 years old, Gay is no longer high-level rotation player, but he is just two years removed from when he last was. While his production and and availability dipped during his two seasons with the Utah Jazz, Gay was very solid during his time with the San Antonio Spurs, and a borderline All-Star prior to that.
If Gay were to land with one of the teams expected to show interest, it's unlikely he would play very much, but he would be a solid veteran presence that could also provide spot minutes as a depth piece, if needed. These players are underrated on teams with championship aspirations, especially those who have young players in need of guidance.
It's unclear what Gay plans to do with his basketball future, but if he decides he wants to continue playing in the NBA, it sounds like there could be a sport for him somewhere. An incredibly exciting player in his prime, Gay would be entering his 18th season next year.
