During a recent episode of Podcast P, which is presented by Wave Sports and Entertainment, Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. said his team getting humbled by the Los Angeles Lakers was the best thing for them.

"I think getting humbled was the best thing for us," Jackson Jr. said. "It’s gonna make us way more hungry. Hungry like we were like three years ago when there were no expectations on anything… We got leveled at the end of the year so we gotta sit with that all summer. We’re done in May and I’m watching the other games, like really not happy, tripping. This is gonna be the best thing for us. We’re gonna have that edge, we're gonna come back and and we’re gonna be so hungry. We’re gonna remember that feeling up until playoffs. We’re gonna get it done."

Jackson's star teammate Desmond Bane reacted to these comments on Twitter, co-signing the message:

The Grizzlies are an incredibly talented group, with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr. leading the charge, but they were clearly lacking discipline last season. Mental mistakes and an overall lack of execution was a major issue for the Grizzlies last year, but it's something they believe will only improve because of their first round exit to the Lakers.

Jackson Jr. said this on a podcast, and Desmond Bane agreed.
