Injury Report: Ja Morant's Status vs. Pelicans

On the second night of a back to back, the Memphis Grizzlies will likely be resting Ja Morant against the New Orleans Pelicans, as the star point guard has been listed as doubtful. With a two-game lead on the third seed Sacramento Kings, the Grizzlies control their own destiny to securing a top-two finish. This allows the Grizzlies to be more cautious with their players, especially their stars, as the regular season winds down.

The Grizzlies have done incredibly well to position themselves nicely in the standings, and will enter play on Wednesday two games behind the first seed Nuggets, and two games above the third seed Kings. There is still a chance that the Grizzlies could catch Denver for the one seed, but with them choosing to rest Ja Morant against the Pelicans, it feels as if Memphis is content where they are in the standings. That said, the Grizzlies have done well to win without Morant any time he has been out this season, so this is still a group that believes they can beat anybody, even without their star point guard available.

If the Grizzlies were to win this game without Morant, it would be another nice momentum builder for a team that has been trending in the right direction for several weeks now. Having won 8 of their last 10, the Grizzlies are on a roll.
