Ja Morant Defends Teammate From Slander

In this story:
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been more active on social media lately, and recently defended his teammate Ziaire Willams from he felt was some slander.

While it was unclear what Morant was specifically referencing in his Tweet, there was some Williams discussion sparked on social media over the last few days when some were saying he should be playing in Summer League as opposed to attending it as a fan.
Having played just 99 career games in the NBA after being drafted 10th overall in 2021, Williams has not yet looked like the top-10 pick he was select as; however, he is still just 21 years old. Morant is excited for Williams to prove doubters wrong once he gets an opportunity, which very well could be next season.
In his 99 career games, Williams has averaged 7.2 PPG in 19.3 minutes per contest. A 6'8" wing, Williams could be a rotation option for the Grizzlies next season if they are unable to land another forward to fill the void left by Dillon Brooks. While Williams likely won't be a top option to replace Brooks in the starting lineup, he could move up in the rotation if Memphis doesn't acquire another wing.
What's important for Williams is that he has the trust of his teammates. A message like this from Morant goes a long way, and it will be fun to see the young forward get a chance to prove himself.
