Ja Morant Gets Surprising NBA All-Star Vote Despite Injury

In this story:
Ja Morant has only played in nine NBA games this season. His last game before a season-ending injury was on January 5, and yet still, he's somehow ranked very high on the NBA's early All-Star voting results.
As of January 18, Ja Morant is still shockingly ranked 8th among Western Conference guards in NBA All-Star voting. That means he's currently ranked above Devin Booker in All-Star voting, by a pretty decent amount too.
Morant had 504,676 votes, while Devin Booker had 441,238 votes. Morant was actually very close to passing De'Aaron Fox who had 513,711 votes.

To put this more into perspective, Morant was ranked higher in All-Star voting than the following: Jamal Murray, Collin Sexton, Malcolm Brogdon, Russell Westbrook, D'Angelo Russell, and Mike Conley.
While it can be appropriate to rank Morant higher than some of those players, keep in mind he only played nine games this entire season. It really shows the love that NBA fans have for Ja Morant to place him even higher than Jamal Murray, who has more than earned an All-Star spot this season.
Make no mistake, Ja Morant is one of the most exciting players in the NBA. Getting a season-ending injury was truly a dark spot in this year's NBA season, not just for the Memphis Grizzlies, but for fans of the game in general. Hopefully, he can be in the All-Star game next season.
