While the Grizzlies organization may have been ready to move on from Brooks, his teammates still have a lot of love and support for him. Having played his entire career with the Grizzlies, Brooks had a lot of memorable moments in Memphis, including his final season which earned him All-Defensive honors.
Brooks should be a good fit in Houston, who has been attempting to pivot away from their rebuilding era. While their moves this summer will not vault them into contention, the Rockets should be much more competitive next season than they were last season.
For the Grizzlies, they still have a decision to make on how they plan to fill Brooks' starting small forward role. There are options both internally and externally that will likely be explored, but the Grizzlies will have to find a new starting forward next to Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., which is the team's trusted core.
