Morant was clearly tuned in for the Summer League action, as were many fans who have been missing NBA basketball. The Grizzlies have some exciting young players that fans have been eager to see, including some players who contributed at times last season, like Kenneth Lofton Jr. and David Roddy.
Roddy went just 2/12 in the Summer League opener, but he was a key contributor at times for the Grizzlies last season, and should have an opportunity to get minutes this upcoming season as well. For Jake LaRavia, he was inactive for much of last season, but is highly regarded by the Grizzlies organization, and showed exactly why in this game.
It's great to see Morant supporting these young players, because while he will not be around for the first 25 games of next season, he is still the face of this franchise. The Grizzlies are excited for what next season can bring, and that excitement certainly includes Morant and his eventual return.
