Ja Morant Reacts to Not Making All-NBA

In this story:
The NBA announced their All-NBA teams on Wednesday, and Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was not named to any of the three teams. Morant appeared in 61 games this season, and averaged 26.2 PPG, 8.1 APG, and 5.9 RPG, on 46.6% from the field and 30.7% from deep. The Grizzlies went 40-21 in the games Morant played.
Following the news that Morant had not been selected, the star point guard shared this Tweet:
— Ja Morant (@JaMorant) May 10, 2023
Morant also Retweeted these two Tweets:
No All-NBA selection for @JaMorant despite finishing the season 11th in points per game and 5th in assists per game.

Ja Morant is right back to where he plays at his best - underrated and under-appreciated. A monster bounce-back season for 12 is incoming. pic.twitter.com/rPZU06YZ4c
I'm sure some voters held the off-court drama against him. But as Chris and I discussed on the pod, the on-court numbers were plenty good enough.

The All-NBA guards who were named instead of Morant, were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic (first team), Steph Curry and Donovan Mitchell (second team), and De'Aaron Fox and Damian Lillard (third team).
While he was not relatively close to making one of the three teams, Morant did receive All-NBA votes. With 10 second team votes and 14 third team votes, Morant tallied the most total points amongst the vote-receiving guards who were left off all three teams. The only other player to tally more voting points and not make one of the three teams was Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen.
While this is unfortunate for Morant, especially considering the contract ramifications, it will be another bit of motivation for him entering next season. Between this news and the Grizzlies being eliminating in the first round, there will be plenty fueling Morant as he and his team begin the 2023-24 campaign.
