The Memphis Grizzlies had Ja Morant for just nine games this season, as the star point guard began the year suspended for 25 games, and suffered a season-ending shoulder injury just nine games after being reinstated. While Morant's injury is of course the biggest blow for Memphis, it only begins to describe how this season has gone for them.

Several other Grizzlies players have missed extended time this season, which has led to the team bringing in a lot of new faces that would have otherwise never gotten an opportunity in Memphis. Recently reacting to the list of players that have scored a basket for the Grizzlies this season, Morant was certainly stunned to see just how long it is:

This was certainly not the plan for Memphis entering this season, but things quickly went the wrong direction. It was always going to be difficult to survive a 25-game absence from Morant to start the season, but there was optimism in Memphis that the team could turn things around once he returned.

For the Grizzlies, their focus now shifts to next season where they will look to reestablish themselves as a playoff team in the Western Conference. It won't be easy, with a lot of really good teams battling for a select number of spots, but this Memphis group has been there before.
