The Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Memphis Grizzles in an in-season tournament game on Tuesday night, and the team has recalled Maxwell Lewis from the G-League, per Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation.

While Lewis will not play many minutes in this game, if any at all, it does sound like he will be available for the Lakers. Having gone back and forth from the G-League to the NBA a couple times already this season, Lewis has appeared in just three games at the NBA level, totaling just 13 minutes played.

Lewis played 28 minutes for the South Bay Lakers on Saturday, scoring 13 points in a loss to the Rip City Remix. The South Bay Lakers do not play again until Friday, which is why it made sense for Lewis to be recalled from the G-League, even if he is not expected to play rotational minutes for Los Angeles.

Going back and forth from the NBA to the G-League can be a tough grind for young players, but it's part of the journey for many late draft picks like Lewis. Fortunately for the Lakers, their G-League affiliate is very close by, so it makes it easier for players to move up and down. This is the setup for most NBA/G-League teams, but there are some commutes less convenient than El Segundo to Downtown Los Angeles.
