Luka Doncic Reveals Honest Feelings on Dillon Brooks

While Dillon Brooks rubbed a lot of people the wrong way during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, he has the respect of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. Following Slovenia's loss to Canada in the FIBA World Cup, Doncic spoke on the respect he has for Brooks, saying, "I think Dillon played great. He was very physical, like he always does. A lot of people don’t like him, but I respect him for what he does."

Doncic showed a lot of respect for Brooks with this answer, but did take exception to the way he was officiated, saying, "The referees told to one of the guys, 'We're not gonna call a foul on [Dillon Brooks] because he's coming at us.' I think this is not fair. I know I complain a lot, but I don't think it's fair."

Even with Doncic not liking the way Brooks was officiated, it was cool to see him show respect for his NBA opponent, especially when so much of the coverage surrounding Brooks is negative. While some of that coverage has been warranted, as Brooks and the Grizzlies were unable to back up much of their trash talk from last season, it's always refreshing to see NBA players appreciate the competitive nature of the game - even following a tough loss like the one Doncic and Slovenia took to Team Canada.
