Mavericks Reveal Kyrie Irving's Final Injury Status vs. Grizzlies

After initially being listed as questionable on the injury report, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving has been upgraded to available for tonight‘s game vs. the Memphis Grizzlies. This is a huge development, as the Mavericks were already without Luka Doncic for this game, and could not afford to lose Irving as well.

The Memphis Grizzlies will remain without Ja Morant, who is ramping up his conditioning after completing his eight-game suspension from the NBA. With Irving set to play in this game, he should be the best player on the floor. Both Dallas and Memphis desperately need wins at this point in the season, as the Western Conference standings remain as tight as they have ever been.

There is very little room for error in the Western Conference, and that is especially true for the Mavericks. Entering play on Monday, Dallas sits just a half-game above the Golden State Warriors for the sixth-seed. If the Mavericks lose on Monday and the Warriors defeat the Houston Rockets, Golden State would regain sole possession of the sixth-seed, putting Dallas back into the play-in picture. Kyrie Irving’s upgraded status certainly helps Dallas avoid this outcome.

The Grizzlies and Mavericks will begin at 5:00 PM PST on Monday night. Memphis is playing host to Dallas, which is big for them, as they have been dominant at home all season.
