Speaking with the media ahead of the NBA Finals, commissioner Adam Silver gave an unusual update on the looming discipline for Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, suggesting a decision has been made, but will not be announced until after the NBA Finals.

ESPN analyst and NBA insider Brian Windhorst spoke on this development during a recent television appearance, and made a concerning prediction based upon Silver's comments.

"I've never heard anything like it," Windhorst said of Silver's comments on Morant. "It was very unusual for him to basically say, 'I know what I'm gonna do, but I'm not gonna announce it now.' The second part is, he brought up that he's working alongside the Players Association on this... This is a situation that is wide-ranging, and quite frankly, the indication here is that this is gonna be a significant suspension."

Windhorst added that all signs point towards this situation being unlike anything the NBA has seen before, and he believes Adam Silver is anticipating a lot of reaction to his decision, which is why he does not want those headlines dominating the national coverage during the Finals.

Based upon Silver's comments, Windhorst's prediction makes sense. It's certainly a concerning prediction for Morant, but one that seems to align with much of what has already developed publicly. Needless to say, this will be an interesting story to follow.
