Report: Hawks Are Searching For a Pair of First-Round Picks Plus a Starting-Level Player For Dejounte Murray

Will the Hawks trade Dejounte Murray before the trade deadline?

The Milwaukee Bucks made the decision to fire first-year head coach Adrian Griffin yesterday and made the quick decision to hire former Celtics, Clippers, and 76ers head coach Doc Rivers to try and get them steered in the right direction.

Yahoo Sports Jake Fischer detailed the downfall of Griffin and the problems Milwaukee is having and what they might do to fix them. Fischer talked about trade candidates for the Bucks and mentioned Hawks guard Dejounte Murray as a possible target. When talking about the Bucks's potential pursuit of Murray, Fischer detailed the price tag that the Hawks are asking for Murray:

"A deal highlighted by the No. 35 pick probably isn’t going to strike Atlanta’s fancy for Murray, considering the Hawks, at present, are searching for a pair of first-round picks plus a starting-level player for their All-Star combo guard, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes reported on social media last week that the Bucks are interested in making a trade for Murray.

On the surface, I'll be honest that this does not make a lot of sense. Milwaukee used a lot of their remaining trade chips when they traded for Damian Lillard this offseason and they don't have a lot to trade. Could a three-team deal be an option? Sure, but that also seems unlikely. Milwaukee is probably interested, as a lot of teams are due to Murray's contract and that he is a good player, but that does not mean that every team can make a deal happen.

The top team that has been connected to Murray has been the Los Angeles Lakers and that trade buzz has not gone away.

According to The Athletic's Jovan Buha, who covers the Lakers, "The Murray buzz is only increasing — and to noisy levels. The Lakers and Hawks have discussed potential frameworks of a deal, including a version late last week that centered on Russell, Hood-Schifino, the 2029 first-round pick and additional draft compensation, according to multiple team and league sources. Talks have since stalled, but are expected to pick back up closer to the deadline."
