At Least The Miami Heat Proved Charles Barkley Wrong After He Offered $1 Billion Bet During Pregame

A longtime critic, TNIT's Charles Barkley backed the Miami Heat in their loss to the Atlanta Hawks

The Miami Heat were left looking pretty silly after their loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the play-in tournament.

So did TNT analyst Charles Barkley.

Before the game, Barkley blasted the Hawks by saying they "stink." He then told co-host Shaquille O'Neal he would bet on the Heat.

"Bet it," Barkley said. "Whatever you want to, $1 billion [on the Heat]."

Even though Barkley was joking, Heat fans can at least take solace in him getting it completely. Barkley has been among the Heat's harshest critics over the years.

Jokes aside, the Heat's predicament is no laughing matter. They now have to defeat either the Chicago Bulls or Toronto Raptors Friday to make the playoffs. The Bulls and Raptors play tonight.

If the Heat lose, it would end a disappointing season that had so many expectations.
