In Wake Of Jacksonville Shootings, Miami Heat Condemn Racism
The Miami Heat have always make their presence felt when it comes to speaking on social justice issues.
Which makes their latest message no surprise.
On Tuesday, the Heat released a social media post in response to the Jacksonville shooting. A white gunman shot and killed three black people in what appeared a racially-motivate attack at Dollar General. Anolt Laguerre, Jerrald Gallion and Angela Carr were murdered by Ryan Palmeter.
Palmeter left behind "manifestos" before killing himself. He left notes that read he "hated black people."
The Heat's statement read: "The black victims were murdered at the hands of a racist gunman in Jacksonville over the weekend. As part of a league in which 73 percent of our players are black, we are angry and disgusted by the senseless and hate-filled motives of such a violent and horrific act. Fight racism."
