Miami Heat Remain In Damian Lillard Hunt After Portland Trail Blazers Select Scoot Henderson With No. 3 Pick

The fact the Portland Trail Blazers did not trade their No. 3 means Damian Lillard could be on the move

The Miami Heat learned Thursday they still have a chance landing one of the prize offseason acquisitions.

The Portland Trail Blazers selected Scoot Henderson with the No. 3 pick in the NBA draft. Their decision not to trade the picks means Blazers guard Damian Lillard could be on the move.

It was widely reported Lillard hoped they used the pick as trade bait for a proven superstar. Lillard has said he wants to compete for a championship before it's too late in his career instead of being part of a rebuilding project.

The Blazers reportedly were interested in dangling the pick in front of the Heat in exchange for center Bam Adebayo. Those talks never materialized because the Heat have said all along they have no interest in moving Adebayo or bringing in young players to an experienced group that made the Finals twice in the last four years.

While the Heat are in position to compete for Lillard, there are plenty other teams interested.
