Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra Provides Injury Update On Caleb Martin

In this story:
Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin was among the players to miss Wednesday's preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets at Kaseya Center.
Martin is dealing with a knee injury but has participated in most of the workouts during practice. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra provided an update during pregame.
"He's definitely making progress," Spoelstra said. "He went through the majority of the scrimmage. He went through a big part of it ... He's already been doing more and more each day. We'll see how he feels (Thursday). I'm encouraged by his progress."
Martin is coming off the best season of his career. He played a huge role in the Heat making a second NBA Finals appearance in four years. After Jimmy Butler carried the load for two rounds, Martin was their best player against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.
The Heat once again need strong play from Martin this season if they are going to have a similar run. Spoelstra refused to say if Martin would be ready in time for next week's season opener against the Detroit Pistons.
The Heat were also without Jimmy Butler, Kevin Love, Tyler Herro and R.J. Hampton. None of the injuries appear serious, with Love missing the game so Spoelstra could see others play and Butler out for conditioning purposes.
