Although the Miami Heat thought Damian Lillard reportedly wanted to stay with the Portland Trailblazers, they have now realized they may be back in contention.

Portland decided to use the No. 3 pick in the draft on Scoot Henderson instead of trading it for a star to pair alongside Lillard like he wanted. Now, there is possibility he could request a trade.

This news brought hope to Heat fans.

Throughout the offseason, the Heat fanbase has been on an emotional rollercoaster, wondering if the front office is going to make a blockbuster deal. Now that Lillard could reportedly be available once again, Miami fans is focusing more on it than the player they drafted.

Drafting Jamie Jacquez Jr. with the No. 18 pick was put on the back burner by Heat fans. With many fans frustrated about losing in the Finals two of the last four years, they believe the addition of Lillard will improve their chances of a championship.

Some fans are now even criticizing team president Pat Riley and the front office for the lack of change in the roster over the past few years. The fanbase believes it is the main reason for the Heat losing two Finals since 2020.
