Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Among The Supporters As LeBron James Nears Scoring Record

LeBron James is on pace to break the NBA's scoring record early as next Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
His biggest supporter is the man who help the record since 1984. Former Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has cheered on James since the chase began at the beginning of the season.
“When I broke Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring record in 1984 -- the year LeBron was born -- it bothered Wilt, who’d had a bit of a one-sided rivalry with me since I’d started doing so well in the NBA,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote in a Substack post last year. “I don’t feel that way toward LeBron. Not only will I celebrate his accomplishment, I will sing his praises unequivocally.”
James, who played for the Miami Heat from 2010-14, enters tonight's game against the Indiana Pacers just needing 89 points. He is averaging 30.2 points, but possibly could break the record Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans. The moved switched it to a nationally-televised game just in case, but the mark is likely to fall against the Thunder.
