Miami Heat Fall Short To Brooklyn Nets In Narrow Defeat

In this story:
The Miami Heat are using preseason to fix issues prior to the regular season, but winning is always the goal.
In their fourth preseason game, the Heat were defeated by the Brooklyn Nets 107-104. Forwards Cole Swider and Nikola Jovic had opportunities to tie the game with less than 10 seconds left to play but were unable to deliver.
Granted, the Heat were missing six key contributors, including Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin. In their absence, Haywood Highsmith stole the show, scoring 15 points on 75 percent shooting. All-Star center Bam Adebayo was benched in the second half for Erik Spoelstra to view other players but had 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
For Brooklyn, Day’Ron Sharpe led the way with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks in 21 minutes. Star forward Mikal Bridges disappointed, scoring 11 points on 35.7 percent shooting.
Miami ended their preseason games at Kaseya Center with a loss but faces the Houston Rockets on Friday in the closer. With many starters likely sidelined to prepare for the regular season, players on Exhibit-10 or two-way contracts will look to show why they're deserving of a roster spot.
The Heat will play their regular season opener at home against the Detroit Pistons on October 25.
