In wake of Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade's induction to the Hall of Fame, team president Pat Riley recently took time out to talk about the most celebrated player in team franchise history.

Riley spoke about the decision to draft Wade at No. 5 overall to NBC6 Miami.

"You never know that you've drafted quintessential superstar until he becomes that," Riley said. "We knew we drafted an incredible athlete who had all the attributes to become a great player."

Riley said he knew it would take Wade a couple years before becoming a superstar. Wade led the Heat to their first championship in 2006, his third season.

"His [pre-draft]workout was horrible," Riley said. "The games that I scouted and watched him he was tremendous. His first season with us we knew we had a player that was unique but it was probably going to take a year or two to reach that level."
